Menabe is a renowned kingdom in the Big Island‘s history with its own customs and cultural identities of which the “Kilalaky”, a traditional dance of international importance now. In royalty times, when the King moves, the soldiers played music while dancing.This was the beginning of Kilalaky, consisting in gestures to erase traces of their direction by drawing the number « eight » in reverse. It’s also a dance encouraging and motivating soldiers to overcome obstacles and enemies. However, each event or activity has its own song as Bilo, circumcision, death, marriage ... The kilalaky remains a reference dance for Menabe and the Morondavians
